Background:
Waste solutions for Circular Economy’ is supported by a joint climate action program- MAF (Mitigation Action Facility) set up by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) of the United Kingdom (UK), European Commission (EU Commission) and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF). This is a 5-year project which is being operated in 5 lighthouse locations- Patna, Varanasi, State of Goa, Bengaluru & Tiruchirappalli with local and state governments as partners. GIZ will act as the NAMA Support Organisation (NSO) for the project and will be responsible for the delivery of funds, services, financial and administrative management of the project.
The pilot implementation of a Comprehensive Study and Management of Sanitary Waste aims to establish a safe, segregated, and sustainable system for sanitary waste management in selected wards (covering up to 10,000 households) across four cities, while strengthening the capacity of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) for long-term implementation, scale-up, and replication.
Tasks of the assignment:
- Baseline Assessment of Sanitary Waste Generation and Existing Management Practices
- Design of Ward-Level Segregated Sanitary Waste Collection and Transportation System
- Behaviour Change Communication and Citizen Engagement and Capacity Building to Sanitation Workers in pilot ward
- Assessment and Selection of Sanitary Waste Processing and Disposal Options
- DPR Preparation for Sanitary Waste Processing Facility (Optional- if requested by ULB)
